As if we need to be convinced to check a mixtape calling itself “a journey where no musical boundaries exist!,” The Echo Bass Sessions is also the newest release from A Gun Called Tension, Dann Gallucci and Sean Reveron’s inscrutably awesome punk/dub/electro-whatever project. Since Gallucci played in the Murder City Devils and Modest Mouse and Reveron collaborated with the Beta Band, sung for Exodus 77, and co-founded Rockers NYC, this mixtape sounds like the record collection of some dudes who listen deep and wide. Which is essentially what it is. And we haven’t yet mentioned that the last track is an evidently super rare collaboration between Reveron (as Koolie Ranks) and 2Pac. At least, that’s what he told us.
