TERRORIST, the new label from Barnzley {Special Needs & House 33} & Joe Corre {Agent Provacateur}, has opened a boutique this month on Great Eastern Street in London’s East End. The concept behind the line is inspired by Historic Terrorists … or Historical Characters who were considered ‘terrorists’ in their time such as Geronimo, Napoleon, Guy Fawkes etc … and London’s Dickensian characters of the 19th century. The shop, it’s contents, & it’s staff are a contemporary version of groundbreaking British creativity such as the SEX boutique, SEDITIONARIES, & World’s End were to London’s 1970s, 80s, & 90s. This should come as no surpirse as Terrorist is yet another company from Joe Corre, founder of AGENT PROVACATEUR, who re-invented kinky nightwear to international acclaim. Apparently A.P. does a brisk business in the Middle East as well as the Hollywood Celebrity jetset. The Co-Creator is Barnzley, who’s also behind Special Needs, House 33, & was a founded Zoltar The Magnificent . Barnzley has been at the forefront of every major youthquake since Punk in the late 70s. Vivienne Westwood was visiting the shop when I was shooting there. Westwood’s recently published manifesto ACTIVE RESISTANCE TO PROPAGANDA was an influence in Terrorist’s inception.
